You’re only as good as your team. #manemonday

This last week my family and I were in Maui for ski week. Ironic, right? In Orange County, they take an entire week off for ski week. This was the first time we’ve actually been on a family vacation that was a week long. It’s amazing to be in a place, with both my business and my husband’s business, where we have teams that can manage everything.

And not just manage things, but continue to hustle and push forward.

We are both surprised at how much that got done this week while we were able to relax with the family.

I’m not going to lie, we are both excited to get back into the mix because we both love and are passionate about what we do. And when you are passionate about what you do, it doesn’t really feel like work – but this doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a little vacation now and again.

On today’s Mane Monday blog post I’m going to let a few of my team members share some their favorite NBR Transformations from this past week while I was away.

Hey everybody, it’s Val here and today I wanted to share more of why I love my job and also a few NBR Transformations.

This is one of my favorite NBR Transformations of the week.

We started off by highlighting her with 25 vol lightener.

I placed her highlights at an angle and did them about 1 1/2 inches off the scalp. I wanted everything to be melty with her color, but still have dimension.

We then did her base with 4nb and added tons of thicker lowlights and slices. I didn’t want to fully saturate the rest of her hair because I wanted to see some of her other colors in the end result as well. I love a brunette with three shades, it’s super soft, but again, there’s dimension.

After rinsing her, I toned her with 6nb for that tone on tone effect.

She’s wearing two rows of NBR, and we cut it to a conservative length. Our main objective with the extensions was to fill in her sides and only adding a little length.

When I finished styling her she did the cutest shimmy and said: “Sorry, that’s me feeling myself shimmy!”

Nothing to be sorry about here!

I know we say this a lot, but it really isn’t just about the hair. Yes, the hair is beautiful, but how it makes our clients feel is the most rewarding part of our job.

The after smile,
the non-stop running their fingers through their new locks,
and the confident shimmy’s that come after the transformation, make the vibes in the salon the happiest place.

So that’s the story of Sharon and her Shimmy. What will your “AFTER” NBR vibe be like?

There’s only one way to know.

Come see us at the DKW Styling Salon!

Here are a few more of my NBR Transformations from the week

Hey guys it Ani here from DKW Styling

I wanted to share a quick story and transformation with you…

With some people, the minute you talk to them on the phone, you know you’re going to get along. When I did her consultation there was only sass, jokes, and a potty mouth that would rival mine.

So, of course, I immediately loved her.

When she came in she told me she had tried tape-ins extensions and went to the beach soon after. Unfortunately, the extensions turned into a matted mess.

If that wasn’t bad enough… she was going to be on Oprah in less than 24 hours.

Needless to say, she had an emergency hair appt to remove the extensions. That removal left her with broken pieces and a few thin spots.

Fast forward, her hair has grown back now but she wanted something more natural and easier in the hair. That brought her here to NBR and the DKW Styling Salon.

It’s safe to say I have never laughed so much through one appointment. Our clients really do make our job more fun, and of course, the end result with NBR is always a high point.

If you’re a hair stylist reading this post, all of our smaller classes for the year are sold out, but we just started selling BMS Convention tickets. This is the NBR Level 1 Certification Class with 3 full days of training plus pre-training. There will be over 300 stylists at this event. Don’t miss out! The event will be in June. Click here to secure your seat and find out all the details.

If you are not a hairstylist but would love to experience NBR in your hair, click here to make an appointment with myself or a member of my team.

Happy Monday,
Danielle

    Dear Danielle,

First off I adore you and your blog! Thank you for posting such great content for your subscribers. I have a question regarding tipping and extensions. Is it common to tip for extension hair or just the service of putting the extensions in? What do stylists prefer? I have always been curious as to how to “tip correctly” I thought you would be the perfect person to ask!
    Fondly,
    Tammy

Most clients tip on the total amount charged. But at the end of the day, a tip is not a requirement nor an expectation. It’s whatever the client wants it to be!
