You guys! Right now I’m at our first NBR + BMS convention. As you’re reading this, I’m probably on stage (shadoobie-ing myself a little), teaching alongside Danielle, Garrett and Anianne, in front of 175 stylists. Holy butterflies, man.
If you don’t hear from me next week, I clearly died from the experience. If you do hear from me….Yay! I survived and grew a ton, because being in front of people isn’t really my jam, but changing women’s lives…well that gives me all the feels.
So today I’m gonna focus on something light, to sidetrack me from my nerves.
I loooove me some good Mexican food. So I’m here to share my three fav places to go. Chips and salsa are life for me. I will take that over sweets any day of the week. And we already all know my love for tequila so the margarita obsessions won’t come as a surprise to anyone.
Ok here we go, in no particular order:
1. GREEN ONION
Their salsa is my favorite. I grew up on it, and nothing has held a candle to it since. There’s two locations. One in Moreno Valley and one in San Pedro. We go to the Staples Center a lot for Kings and Lakers games, so we love to hit this place up on our way out. Anyone from the Inland Empire knows about Green Onion off of Day street, and will tell you it’s their fav. If you’re ever off the beaten path in those cities, check it out. Get the fajitas or the chimichangas. Big Ryno loves the shredded beef tacos and enchiladas. It’s not a fancy joint, but it’s got that homemade taste that I can’t get enough of!
Olamendi’s is in Dana Point and the vibe of this place rules. It’s all decked out like Day of the Dead or “Dia de los Muertos” if you’re feeling authentic. The parking lot even has painted murals of skeletons surfing on it. So RAD. Their salsa and margaritas are soooo good, and their refried beans are my favorite ever. They broil the cheese on top to a perfect crisp and I can’t get enough. I’ve yet to have anything here that I don’t like. Tacos, salads, fajitas, taquitos, nachos. It’s all delish. It’s super laid back, and all the locals here love it. We can come here sandy after a day at the beach, and fit right in. I can’t say enough good things about Olamendi’s. It’s our current fam fav.
3. SOL Mexican Cocina
This place is right on the Newport Harbor. The atmosphere is nicer, so I wouldn’t roll here with the kids straight from the beach. I like it for date night, or a family dinner where we are actually “dressed and ready” not rolling our usual homeless beach go-ers style.
They have my favorite margarita ever here. The Cucumber Jalepeno. Muy Bueno! As far as food, I’ve only ordered their goat cheese enchiladas. They are so beyond delish, that I’ve never veered off from that item. The chips, salsa, and bean dip are tasty as well.
So there you have it, my three fav Mexican Food Restaurants.
Now, I’ll never give you life, parenting, or marital advice, because that’s not my thang. However, what I will do, is give you my current food and drink obsessions, because I’m pretty sure I’m nailing it in the tastebud department.
Now it’s your turn. Comment here with your fav Mexican food spots. Me and my family thank you in advance!
Happy Wednesday everyone! Here’s to hoping I see you all next week here on the blog. Fingers crossed!
