The space between Christmas and New Year’s were you don’t know what day it is who you are or what you’re supposed to be doing…
Ha ha this was a funny quote that I posted on my NBR page on Instagram. It’s so true just the other day I asked my husband what day is it and when is New Year’s let’s get on with it already. Yesterday I took down all my Christmas Decour and my house feels naked but I really like it. Feel so clean and ready to start fresh for 2017.
What are some of your goals for 2017?
One of my goals is to enjoy where I’m currently at while still pushing to grow without completely burning out. I find myself throughout the year being in one of three phases board, overwhelmed, or stuck. Whenever I get to any of these three phases I know it’s time to change it up. The only thing holding myself as well as many others back is fear. Even if we know what the next step should be for some reason our mind tells us to just stay here it’s safe and comfortable. But then we’re back being stuck or board.
New is Good
It’s funny we get excited about a new trip right? It’s the excitement of something new. Why is it that we hold her self back in business and in life why don’t we think of it like a big vacation something new and exciting. For me I find if I just take this time off between Christmas and New Year’s and look at my last year, really look at what worked and what didn’t. This helps me plan for next year. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not much of a planner but it’s important to know where you’re going in life otherwise you’re stuck are bored.
Small changes in business and life can lead to big changes down the road. I would encourage you to start small maybe it could be as simple as a price raise your business. Or committing to only working with a certain clientele. Some times a price increase can be hard… but in my experience helps push me as a stylist in order to continue to grow. There’s nothing worse than being underpaid would you believe your worth, And increasing your prices may ultimately attract the clientele that you are looking for. Another goal for me is is about creating more space to be with my time in family which means I need to learn to delegate better. This is hard for me because I like to be in control of everything. Maybe your goal should be just to simply hire an assistant. There so many stylist that don’t work with an assistant. I know because I was there now I can’t imagine my life without one or two;). At every new level I have to learn how to let go and delegate better.
Creating new habits can take consistency and time. Be honest with yourself and set realistic goals that you know you can keep. The same time trust yourself and take a leap of faith. Every year I have small goals that I know I can accomplish but I also have large goals that are scary and my mind tells me don’t do it don’t do it. It’s almost like I have to hold my breath and jump all in, and interesting enough when I do that those are my biggest breakthroughs.
I would encourage everyone to step a little outside your comfort zone. Take a leap of faith and see what happens!!
I’m currently looking for a new assistant to join the DKW Styling team. I have not yet advertise this but if you’re reading this post and are interested send me a copy of your resume and a short video of why you’d be the perfect fit for the team😘😘
