My Tuesday has officially become my Monday….
Although I only work 3 days behind the chair at my salon in Laguna beach, you better believe I work more than full time. The idea of working full time behind the chair is exhausting. I know because I’ve been there. It’s physically and mentally exhausting to be on your feet for 8-10 straight hours which is common for high producing stylists.
GET AHEAD OF THE CHAIR
After the physical burn out of doing that for so many years I have come to love a whole other side of being behind the chair and I call it being ahead of the chair which is my marketing. With more marketing comes more leads with more leads comes more follow-up. with more follow-up new systems must evolve.
DO YOU HAVE A SYSTEM?
The artist side of me loves to live in the freedom of chaos. Or maybe it’s the lack of commitment in fear of growth. In my experience if you don’t have a system you can’t grow which causes you uncertainty in your future.
WHERE ARE YOUR WEAK SPOTS?
Every week I sit back and analyze my system. What does this mean? I go through my website as a consumer and try to create a more smooth process. I try to figure out what is working and what is not. Every week with my team I go over ideas and concepts I found in the system and try to tweak it to make it better. Often times I’m hustling by posting and consumed by the amount of social media and marketing that I forget to actually check to make sure the end result or call to action is clear for the consumer.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
Each week I’m consumed by following others who have figured out a path… what did they do to create success? Take inspiration from others and apply it to what you’re doing, but put your own spin on it. If you continue to hustle with no marketing and no follow up you will not progress and burn out. A goal for myself this year is to get more organized and allow myself to be both the artist and marketer.
MY CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK.
If you’re that stylist that is working way too many hours behind the chair figure out how to get ahead of the chair, how can you create space for yourself in order to get ahead?
Join me and many other stylist as we work smarter not harder.
