I have had 2 babies and feel more fit than ever. So today I wanted to share my work out and eating secrets…

I have always been petite. ( I’m almost 5′ 4″ on a good day) I have always enjoyed staying active and have also aways enjoyed food. After I had my first baby, and gaining 60 pounds I thought this is never going to go back! I remember my older sister who had always been into fitness tell me, “you know you have to work out now right!?” I said well that sucks, do I have to eat good to? “yes she said” So I began to work out 3-4 times a week a make healthier food choices. It was about 2 months in and I started to see the results I knew I was hooked!

I began to work really hard and lost all the baby weight in 4-5 months. After baby number 1 I got a little obsessive over my diet and exercise I even got a little too thin. But I didn’t really notice until others brought it up. I decided I was getting too obsessive. It was right around this time I found out I was pregnant with baby #2. I didn’t gain quite as much weight with baby number 2, about 40lbs. I decided to relax a little so that I didn’t get into the same situation of obsessing over food and work out. I didn’t want to let my diet or workout determine my mood for the day. After baby number 2 I decided that moderation works well for me.

I put on muscle fast, I’m not really sure why this is maybe genetics but in order to stay lean and not put on too much muscle I only do resistance training with my personal trainer one day a week. This keeps me from looking like a have a pancake bum. We do a ton or core which helps my waist look smaller and more toned. I try to get in 3-4 work outs a week. Most of my work outs are 30-40 minutes. We live near the beach and I love being out doors so I usually take my dogs for a run or do the occasional cycle class. I notice for me moderation also works great with my workouts. If I work out too much I look bigger and I know what they say it ok, because its muscle. But I feel better with the less is more approach. I don’t skip a meal. For me in the long run this just makes me gain weight which is hard to loose. If I go up a little I just try to make healthier choices.
